If you are ineterested in relocating to work in Canada on a permanent or temporary basis let me know.  I moved here 6 months back and think its great.  The company I moved with have asked if anyone I know wanted to do the same as they were really happy with me so I said I would post an ad on here to see if anyone was interested.  I get $50000 per year which is well over the provincial average and have a great work life balance.  If you are ineterested let me know.

Is there reg work Tod? It sounds like a bloody dream! Good on ya mate

For the record , i am not an agent for anybody.  I ve had enough of these bitter comments, its not worth the hassle .  just tryin to do someone a favour.  Tell you what, nobody bother contacting me again!!  Also, so you tellin me that people dont have those things to pay in England ?  Also you will notice that I put that it wont make anyone a millionaire.

New to the forum   Hi
this thread is what has made me join this forum...and this post in particular.

The truth, as I now live in Canada and have done for the last 20+ years...

A good plasterer here makes about 60-75,000 on an hourly wage  2,000 hours $30 -$35 per hour  on average, this doing exterior stucco's /renders.... EIFS  or ROUGHCAST finishes.

For interior dry lining or as its called here taping work....all of it and I mean all of it is whats termed piece work here ...by the hour is for snagging work/deficiencies pretty much across canada as far as I know.

now to reality....the boom is over...... 1 and half to 2 years ago the above numbers would hold true, today the reality is  that people have stopped spending money...the wages have dropped substantially....and many stucco applicators  are out of work...Im on the west coast where exterior work goes about 10 months of the year head east to alberta and beyond and you get about 6-maybe 8 months of the year full time work...they make this up by working 12-16 hour days when they can ...ie: summer.

irrelevant of the agency ...dont be fooled I think I understand that they are charging the employee over there for the service??? is that right?

funny that ...because the cost when this was all the rage couple years back by these agencies was approx 8-$9,000 thousand canadian

Now is Canada a great place to live ....for sure but trust me the employment of plastering /stucco/taping here is no better here then in the uk......but and I say this because I am a life long plasterer trained at leeds college of building ....what the hell happened to the trade in general there ....whats with all the 3 day courses and such ...I met a kid here who did his NVQ and it took me 2 seconds to figure out that this kid knew nothing about plastering in general...he knew nothing but site skimming work.

go learn and perfect venetian plastering if you want to expand your portfolios.

to the person who asked about (Stone Render).......if you were very good at it ...were able to color the work to make it look extremely mind blowing realistic ,you would get on well here ....if not  dont bother ....cultured stone has it all wrapped upand (Stone Render) would be unable to compete .

Im happy to answer any direct questions openly here on the forum

my history is 30 years in the plastering trade, internally and externally ,am a member of the worshipfull company of plaisterers and have have and still do own my own business for the last 17 years.

good luck i your searches of greener pastures

nice post authenticlime... you are obviously long in the tooth like me mate... the top and bottom of it is if you are good you will get work... but have to travel.. i have been all over the world and made a very good living as a plasterer... i got into venetian plastering about 10 years ago and for a while was the only spread competing with armourcoat in the UK... nowadays there are £300.00 courses teaching a few finishes so lots of people have jumped on the band wagon... i moved to external mono and eifs work years ago as the prices for internal work is bad here to say the least... i am now looking to get restoration work in the uk and further as good prices can be got for traditional renders like hydraulic limes...
